• Q: When my student is absent what information do I put on their absence note?

    A: Documentation needs to be submitted within 5 days of absence. Note should include full name, ID#, date of absence, reason and parent signature.

    Q: What do I need to check out a student?

    A: Parent/Gaurdian is required to come into the office and check out the student in person. Parent must present a valid state-issued identification card at the time of check out each time. Please be advised due to safety and security reasons, the ID and name on the student demographics must match. The person checking out the student must be listed as a person who has authorization to check out the student. We DO NOT accept a written note or phone call to authorize student check outs.

    Q: What do I need to submit to have my student check themselves out?

    A: Students that self check out must have a drivers license and school parking permit. Parents must email JHS.Attendance@hayscisd.net with a picture of your ID, the students name, ID#, time, and reason. Students are required to check in/out in the front office to ensure their attendance is coded accordingly. Please email 24 hours in advance to ensure that your student gets called out on time.

    Q: What is the difference between an absence and a tardy?

    A: A student is absent if they are more than 15 minutes late to class.

    QWhat is the difference between ON and EW code for medical notes?

    A: ON is for a student that went to the doctor but did attend school. EW is for a student that does not attend school on the day of the medical appoinment.
