Course Description:
Law Enforcement 1 is an overview of the history, organization, and functions of local, state, and federal law enforcement. This is a basic course which provides an overview of the criminal justice system, constitutional and criminal law, interpersonal communications, ethics and criminal justice values. Among other activities, students will demonstrate proper arrest procedures, methods of approach in simulated traffic stops and employ procedures to protect, document, and process a crime scene. Students will need to demonstrate knowledge of the Texas Penal Code and Texas Code of Criminal Procedure while exhibiting proper officer safety techniques and ensuring the civil rights of all participants involved in the scenarios.

Grading Policy:
Daily grades comprise 40% of your grade and include each of the following:
- Class Participation: Students are expected to be dependable and punctual. School policies and classroom policies should be adhered to at all times. Students will also be expected to participate in class discussions and activities.
- Daily Work: Students will complete daily in-class assignments in the form of individual work, group work, and hands-on training…..lots of hands-on training.
- Quizzes: Quizzes will be given at various times throughout the semester in order to reinforce your knowledge and prepare you for tests.
Major grades comprise 60% of your grade and include the following:
- Exams: There will be at least 3 exams each grading session. Each exam will be worth 100 points. The exam format may be short answer, multiple choice, true/false, matching and/or essay.
- Projects: There will be at least 2 projects and/or scenario based assessments per grading period.

Course Description:
Law Enforcement II provides the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare for a career in law enforcement. This course includes ethical and legal responsibilities, use of police technology, emergency communication equipment, and courtroom testimony. Among other activities, students will demonstrate and practice the skills of a police officer including interviewing and interrogation techniques, accident investigation, mechanics of arrest, use of force, and crisis intervention techniques.

Principals of laws offers a basic understanding of the history of the law. Learn mankind single greatest achievements, The Law. Students will study and the learn the US Constitution and its bases as undeniable fact in a court of law.
