Assistant Principal's Message

  • Hello Cub Families!

I am Ms. Lumbreras and the proud Assistant Principal at Cullen. I began my career in Hays CISD as an Assistant Principal at Negley Elementary, beginning in the 2020-2021 school year.  I am so excited to be joining Cullen ES where I will already be familiar with some of the staff, students and families.

The 2024-2025 school year will mark my 13th year in Education! I attended Texas State where I received my Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies (EC-6) and Concordia University where I earned my Master's in Educational Administration. I then started my teaching career in Austin ISD (PK, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and helped with 5th virtually during COVID) and was an Assistant Principal and Personalized Learning Coach in San Marcos before coming to Hays CISD.

I have two sons, one who is a graduate of Live Oak Academy HS, and soon to be ACC student, and one that is currently enrolled at Johnson High School. My boys are the lights of my life! I have a dog named Ranger, a cat named Pearle, and a fish named Pinky. I love animals and, as a teacher, always kept class pets in my room. I believe that when kids have the opportunity to care for animals, they learn many important life skills such as responsibility, patience, trust, respect and most importantly, compassion.

My goal as an Assistant Principal is to support students by supporting our teachers. If we work with flexibility, purpose and creativity, we can remove many of the barriers that prevent our teachers from teaching and students from learning to their full potential. I will always be on the side of Cullen kids learning! Rest assured that decisions are always made in my office with that goal in mind.

I look forward to connecting with more families this year and working at Cullen ES with the staff and students for many more years to come. Here's to a great school year!

    Ms. Lumbreras
