Counselor Candace Barnes

  • I am so excited to be a part of the great community of Sunfield Elementary. I began my teaching career in 2010 at Hays CISD and am thrilled to return home to the Kyle/Buda area. My goal as the school counselor is to advocate for an environment that supports success for all students to ensure the students have a positive and rewarding experience at school. I look forward to continuing my journey as your school counselor at Sunfield in the 2024-2025 school year. I can’t wait to get to know all the students, staff, and thriving Sunfield Community. Go Sunfield Stallions!!

Bio

  • Candace Barnes received her Masters in Elementary Education from Texas State University. She furthered her education and received her School Counseling Certification through Region 13 in 2016.  Candace has 14 years of experience in education with 8 years in school counseling.  In the 2023-2024 school year, she earned the honor of Hays CISD's Counselor of the Year. She is happily married to a local entrepreneur in the community and has three children. Her son is a recent Lehman High School graduate, and her two daughters attend Sunfield Elementary.
