Esperanza Orosco has served on the Hays CISD Board of Trustees since her election in 2016.
A former early childhood and fourth-grade bilingual teacher with over a decade of classroom experience, she brings invaluable insight to the board. Her educational background and leadership have earned her the respect of her peers and the community. During the years, she has served as board president, vice president, and secretary.
Before joining the board, Esperanza was president of the Hays Educators Association/TSTA for seven years, where she championed the needs of educators, support staff, and other essential district employees. Her leadership in this role allowed her to connect deeply with the individuals who ensure the success of Hays CISD students every day.
Esperanza holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, and a Master of Elementary Education from Texas State University. She has held key leadership roles in various organizations, including the Texas Association for Bilingual Education, Community Action of Central Texas, and the Hays County Child Protective Board. Currently, she serves on the Friends of the Kyle Library Board.
Within Hays CISD, she has contributed to numerous district and campus committees, such as the Strategic Planning Committee, Calendar Committee, and Transfer Policy Committee. Her campus leadership roles have included mentoring, team leadership, and serving as a student council sponsor. Additionally, she co-founded initiatives like the Hays CISD Clothes Closet (2018) and HaysHope2Go (2019) to address barriers such as clothing and food insecurity for students.
Esperanza’s commitment to the Hays CISD community is unwavering. In her role as a trainer with the Texas Association of School Boards, she provides valuable expertise that enhances the board’s effectiveness and benefits all district stakeholders. Under her leadership, the district has made strides in strengthening academic programs, attracting and retaining exceptional educators, and improving conditions for both students and staff. She has also been a tireless advocate for employee compensation and benefits, ensuring the district remains competitive and supportive of its workforce.
Since moving to Hays County in 2001, Esperanza and her family have been deeply invested in the community, making it a priority to give back and contribute to its growth and success.
